This is a template for informational purposes. Subtext is an indie app, and we've kept this policy short and plain.
Who this applies to
Subtext is available in the United States only and is intended for users 18 and older. You confirm you are 18+ at first launch.
What we collect
You don't need an account, email, or phone number to use Subtext. We collect as little as possible:
- The message you paste in. We send it to a third-party AI service for processing and return a result to your device.
- A random device identifier. Generated by the app. Not tied to your name, Apple ID, email, or phone.
- Subscription status. Managed through the App Store.
- Basic operational data. Timestamps, error codes, and similar diagnostics used to keep the app running.
What stays on your device
The results Subtext generates, any notes you save, and your settings live on your device. We don't store your message history on our servers.
How we use AI
Subtext uses third-party AI services to process your messages and generate results. Your pasted message is transmitted to those services for processing. We don't store your messages on our servers; AI providers may retain processing data per their own policies. We do not use your messages to train AI models, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers, employers, or recruiters.
What we don't do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not share your data with employers, HR tools, advertisers, or recruiters.
- We do not train AI models on your messages.
- We do not send marketing email.
Your controls
Open Settings in the app to delete individual results, wipe everything locally, or opt out of analytics. You can stop using Subtext at any time.
California residents
California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the rights to know, delete, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Subtext does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise your rights, email us.
Children
Subtext is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy materially, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app.
